Gil Cisneros, Fmr. Lieutenant Commander who is running for Congress in California’s 39th Congressional District, was endorsed by Supervisor Hilda L. Solis, who serves as the Los Angeles County Supervisor for the First District. In 2009, Hilda L. Solis was appointed as Secretary of Labor by President Obama, becoming the first Latina to serve in the United States Cabinet. Prior to her appointment, Hilda L. Solis served in the California State legislature, and as Member of Congress from 2001 to 2009, where she was a leader on labor causes, women’s issues, and environmental justice legislation.
“Gil Cisneros will be a champion for not only the Latino community but all the hard-working families and people of the 39th Congressional District,” said Supervisor Hilda L. Solis. “I trust Gil to advocate for humane comprehensive immigration reform, protect affordable health care, and invest in working families instead of big corporations and special interests. Gil will stand up to the Trump administration and defend our values, and I’m proud to endorse his campaign.”
“I am very honored to have the endorsement of Supervisor Hilda L. Solis, a longtime advocate for Californians and for the Hispanic and Latinx communities,” said Cisneros. “Supervisor Solis has dedicated her life to serving our communities and I am proud to have her support. While Young Kim has dedicated her career to serving Rep. Ed Royce, I pledge to serve the people and families of California’s 39th Congressional District. I will stand up to President Trump and his administration and fight for measures that will help América’s working families, including providing access to affordable healthcare and education, paid family leave, and comprehensive immigration reform.”

Solis adds to the growing list of organizations and elected officials who support Cisneros’s campaign, including End Citizens United, the Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters, United Steel Workers, the Orange County Labor Fed, the LA County Labor Fed, the San Bernardino County Professional Firefighters, Orange County Professional Firefighters Association, Los Angeles County Professional Peace Officers Association, the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA), immigrants rights champion Dolores Huerta, California Secretary of State Alex Padilla, California Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, State Senator Keven de León, Congressman Ted Lieu and eighteen other Democratic members of Congress, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, NARAL Pro-Choice America, California Treasurer John Chiang, SEIU California, the Giffords Campaign to End Gun Violence, The Brady Campaign, California School Employees Association (CSEA), the California Democratic Party, United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW), UniteHere!
